Overview
I worked on a merchandise campaign for Quilly, a University of California, Berkeley student startup centered on community, connection, and shared college experiences for women.
-
Quilly is a female run, student founded app at the University of California, Berkeley focused on building intentional community for college women. The platform creates small, curated groups designed to foster meaningful friendships, encourage real connection, and help users feel supported throughout campus life and early adulthood.
-
The client described Quilly’s aesthetic as “nostalgic, vintage, granola.”
Key phrases they wanted reflected in the designs included “navigating college together,” “cool girls get lonely too,” and “Quilly girls.” The overall tone centered on softness, relatability, and community, with a playful, self-aware edge.
The visual direction focused on pastel color palettes, feminine prints, and an illustrative, organic feel, drawing heavily from vintage and nostalgic references. Existing brand assets were provided, including logos, website designs, and past merchandise, which helped inform the final concepts.
-
I was tasked with designing merchandise across multiple formats, including:
Hoodies
Stickers
Baby tees
Tank tops
Keychains
Trucker hats
Initial Sketches
These are initial custom sketches that were scanned to be vectorized in Adobe Illustrator.
Using the key phrases I was to include I used my own handwriting to convey the nostalgic, feminine visual message.
The client requested imagery centered on women interacting, so I created two custom illustrations that incorporated Quilly’s logo and overall brand identity.
Final Designs
These are the final designs that I created using Adobe Illustrator and were approved by the client.
